Hi, am new to linux and exploring. I have a Acer 5562Wxmi with a T2300 Centrino Duo processor, ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 and Intel Pro 3945 Wifi NIC built-in. As I am still exploring Linux, am still not ready to install on a hard drive, this is why I am using a Live CD of Knoppix 4.02
Since the ATI is not easily read by Knoppix, am able to boot up Knoppix with xmodule=fbdev noapic parms. But I need help to locate the Intel Pro 3945 Wifi NIC.
Also, video is choppy upon playback, any idea why this is so or is it bec of the xmodule=fbdev parm
Any help is most appreciated. Thanks.

The choppy video is probably due to the xmodule=fbdev parameter. You could try the radeon module to see if that supports your video card. It might not though since that is a very new vid card from ATI. The radeon module should be a part of the kernel or xorg that is part of Knoppix.

Thanks, guessed as much, unfortunately the xmodule=radeon does not work.
In any case, any idea how to make the wifi nic available?

Check out this page, http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts-df-external/filter_results.aspx?strTypes=all&ProductID=2259&OSFullName=Linux*&lang=eng&strOSs=39&submit=Go%21 on Intel's website.

After some more searching on knoppix.net forums I don't think the wireless will work under the live cd. You might have to install a distro to get the wireless going with the link I provided above.

Thanks, i saw that the linux driver works for kernel 2.6.13+, am still hesitant to install a distro on HD, since am still exploring linux. Anyway to upgrade Knoppix kernel and create a new ISO to burn to a Cd
