can't open links

im using SimplyMepis 3.3. i like it. works real good but has a couple of flaws. i just got online in thunderbird email and clicked on a link in a message and it wouldnt open. i went to a couple of websites and had the same problem. how can this be fixed?

You give relatively little details on your internet connection. If you are behind a router, I suggest you ping it first and check if you get an answer. If you do, then you can ping a popular server that is online for sure like e.g. amazon.com

Sorry, after some more thinking I figure you downloaded the emails from the internet. Therefore you should check your browser and its proxy settings. If the internet generally works (and you can ping servers) but you can't open sites in your browser, then it's most likely an issue with the browser's proxy settings.
