I am going to install a LAMP server on my old laptop. I am trying to decide between Debian, Gentoo, Slackware, or CentOS (I have all of them, plus more). Anyways, your opinion will be greatly appreciated.

I was wondering the same thing, google-ing (for 'LAMP server') i found its Linux + Apache + MySQL + PhP = wicked sweet webserver google might have answers for this thread thaddaeus 01-30-2006, 10:52 PM I have tried slackware but had issues setting it up, when I finally got it workin it ran great but it took a while. I currently use mandriva 64 2006 and it runs very smoothly and is easy to setup. I also have webmin installed to ease updates and software install as well as apache and samba, but many modules exist to administer other programs as well. cybertron 02-03-2006, 12:40 PM I'd avoid Gentoo for an old laptop simply because the install would take an eternity (everything's compiled from source). Any of the other three would be fine. I like Debian personally, but they're all fine. justlinux.com
