access issues across openvpn connection

I have a server, .3 , for sake of identity, which has stopped allowing remote access from a openvpn connection. The two methods used to connect to the server are samba and ssh. Once the openvpn connection has been established, remote connectivity to three other servers is unaffected and these are working normally. Using ssh to establish a remote connection via another server to .3 works no problem as well.

So as far as I can see i have eliminated any possibility that the problem lies either with the firewall or the openvpn service, so it must be a local server problem, but I cannot think what and I *don't* think I have changed anything over the holidays.

Can anyone shed some light on this, as I feel my problem solving is suffering from tunnel vision :confused:
