hey there, maybe one of you have seen this one.

sometimes while running gnome, the gnome-panel just starts freaking out. jittering back and forth, my cpu spikes and stays at 100%.
i can stop it with a killall gnome-panel, but i need it to go away,
anybody know this one?
thanks

I had the same issue some time ago. tried everything.
The only solution was to create a new user dir for myself and start that from scratch,

you mean wipe out the /home/username directory? or just everything in it that has to do with gnome ?
did that do it ?
thanks

I renamed the home dir for my user and then created a fresh one. Then took my docs and non Gnome related files and moved them into the new one.

I kept the old one for a while in case I needed something.

I did try wiping the Gnome-Panel related stuff first but it did not fix it. It was truly a strange problem.

You don't have to wipe out the whole user directory, just the sub-directories pertaining to gnome (.gnome and .gnome2) should do it.
