You can remove KDE if you like, but why don't you install XFCE, add it to the login manager menu, KDM/GDM, and try it out first, just in case?

If your using startx instead of a graphical login, try startxfce.

Also have a look at removepkg for removing KDE. I don't know if there would be a better way...

Well I twinked a few settings shutdown the computer and typed startxfce(4) into the black command prompt the computer booted to XFce desktop, I did not have to download anything to make XFce work, so far everything seems to be working fine, Ok here is the part that I do not understand. Last night, I downloaded AddBlock a firefox extension, while using KDE, I never used XFce until just now, I just now opened firefox webbrowser while using XFce the firefox extension that I installed last night while using KDE desktop is Now located on the firefox webbrowser that I am using right now with the XFce desktop.XFce must have imported the settings from KDE and applied them on to XFce because I did not install AddBlock while using XFce desktop. Plus all of my files downloads etc that were on KDE are now Located on XFce desktop. I like XFce A lot better then KDE My computer Runs 1000 times faster without KDE and all its worthless add ons.

My only concern right now is, Will XFce work if I remove KDE. An error message came up while XFce was booting the message said something like ,, XFce dose not have this plug in therefore might not work do you want to try and start XFce anyways I choose yes and everything is working fine. But I am not sure if XFce will work without KDE being installed....

Yes, xfce will work without kde, but unless you are seriously short on disk space, keep kde.

And btw, the files and firefox settings you speak of were not kde-related; thusly, they will be present in any of your window managers/desktop environments.

Night and Day something is definitely wrong with KDE

I had a hard time installing Slackware (Took 6 hours) I had to install everything that the set up area had to offer just to make the computer boot to a graphical desktop.

The computer acts as if I am using a dial up connection while using KDE XFce on the other hand is 1000 times faster.

Thanks for the replies

Last night, I downloaded AddBlock a firefox extension, while using KDE...XFce must have imported the settings from KDE and applied them on to XFce because I did not install AddBlock while using XFce desktop.

Firefox stores it's settings in your home directory /home/username/.mozilla/ so it doesn't matter where you install it, because the settings are kept in your home AdBlock will always run with Firefox
