Everytime I boot up Unbuntu 5.04 I get the following error:

Error activating XKB configuration.
It can happen under various circumstances:
- a bug in libxklavier library
- a bug in X server (xkbcomp, xmodmap utilities)
- X server with incompatible libxkbfile implementation

X server version data:
The X.Org Foundation
60802000

If you report this situation as a bug, please include:
- The result of xprop -root | grep XKB
- The result of gconftool-2 -R /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/kbd

I'm not sure how it happened, this is a pretty fresh install from a pressed disc. All I have done is updated the OS throught the automated updater. And attempted to get mp3/mpeg4 codecs installed (unsuccessfully :( )

I know this is kind of a Windows solution, but it sounds like something is seriously borked in your install. Can you try re-installing either xorg alone or Ubuntu entirely? It's hard to believe that a bug this big would have slipped by everyone unnoticed with as popular as Ubuntu is.
