Gtk-gnutella (http://gtk-gnutella.sourceforge.net/en/?page=news) has worked wonders for me. I always get impressive search results with it. Crazy fast downloads. I've also heard (never tried it) Soulseek is very good too. I think Nicotine is the client app for that one.
