Hi. Upgrading to Slackware 10.2, I ran into a weird situation.

Kdm no longer has the Xservers configuration file, so I can not comment the X server command.

kdmrc has a similar option to comment and I did so.
I also commented the /etc/X11/xdm/Xservers command just in case.

But, kdm still starts with X.

So you want KDM starting but not a local X server starting? Or do you want X starting but not KDM?

I want kdm up without bringing up X with it.
It was so easy to do so before. What have they done in this version to be so complicated? :(

Same here: upgraded my DroplineGnome the other day and a new version of gdm is installed with a new "default" gdm.conf. All my modifications gone.

By the way: controlling wheater of not start a local X server or listen to network-XDCMP or not is relatively easy with gdm. xdm & kdm is more complicated to my opinion.

Complicated yes, but now even more. A very easy configuration file "Xservers" is now missing in kdm and its properties are merged inside kdmrc. But it seems to ignore the comment in the X server line.
