install kde theme in slackware

KDE 3.3.2, slackware 10.1; I've downloaded a couple of themes but apparently I don't understand the process. Whether I unpack the file or not, if I browse to it from within KDE theme manager, the theme manager does not recognize the file. One of the themes I downloaded and extracted had a configure, make, make install routine and I did that, but the theme does not appear in KDE theme manager so that i can choose it. What am I doing wrong?

I usually have to make my own theme.rc file so the theme engine can be recognized...........kde-look.org has some tuts to show how this is done........search thru the users there and find the how-to's that some users have written.
