Hello,

I am completely new to Linux ,and I am trying to install Fedora 4 Core. I am trying to dual boot it with Windows Xp. Everything seems to be working fine until I get to the automatic partitioning section. It says that I need to define a root / filesystem. Could someone please tell me how to do this? Any help is greatly appreciated.

They are asking you to create a new partition for /

There should be a GUI partitioning tool that comes up at this step.

yeah, don't automatically partition whatever you do...
Pick (or make) a / (root) partition, and then make a swap partition. (THese are equivalent to your C: drive and virtual memory)
Use no more than 512MB for swap. Put grub on the MBR.
And then forget everything you ever knew about windows when you boot fc4...
