I am using KDE as my desktop environment for Debian. When KDE starts up, Noatun, a terminal session, and a folder containing some jpg's always open up even if those items weren't open when I suspend or shut down the computer.
Where can I configure those things not to open automatically when KDE starts up?
Thanks very much for helping a big-time newbie!

Look in your home/.kde/startup direcory and see if anything is listed there. Also seems like perhaps at one stage you shut down with these apps running the file that controls these things hasn't been overwritten.

Thanks! I'll look there and post an update. I was sure that it was something to that effect but just didn't know exactly where to look.

Found .kde folder. There are 2 subfolders "share" and "Autostart". Autostart would seem logical but it's empty. Share has a myriad of folders. Looked in /share/config and there are many config files but I couldn't find any that had entries related to the stuff that displays at KDE startup.
Any words of wisdom?

I don't remember for sure, but I think on older versions of KDE there was an option to save the session or something in the K menu. As far as I can tell there isn't a similar thing in 3.4 so maybe it was just a pipe dream of mine or they've since eliminated it, but that might be something to look for.
Aha, I found a similar thing in 3.4. Try looking in the KDE control center under the KDE Components->Session Manager section. You can tell it there to start up with a blank session, which might take care of your problems. Or you could set it up to start just what you had running last which might be even better.

Aha! With the help of a Linux gear-head here....should've thought of this before. When I was rebooting it was because my suspend wasn't working properly and I couldn't get my screen to come back on forcing me to power down manually from the power button. I never actually logged off gracefully. I did that (after closing the items mentioned) and logged back in again and problem was solved!
Thanks very much everyone. I'll post more in the future, don't worry. : )
