Greetings. I'm currently using Mandriva 10.2 / 2005 Limited Edition. It comes with KDE 3.3.2.

I would like to update to KDE 3.4. I see on their download page that all the mirrors have Mandriva directories with the appropriate RPM packages in them. However, I'm not exactly sure how to go about doing the update.

The directory doesn't contain a synthesis file, so I can't use Mandriva Update or urpmi to update the packages. Must I simply guess at all the packages I need to individually download and install to update my KDE system? Or is there a simpler, more logical way? Thank you.

Well, if you do an "rpm -qa | grep kde" you'll see what KDE packages are currently installed. Download those to an empty directory, then go into the directory and do "rpm -Uvh *". That should do it, although this is all off the top of my head so I make no guarantees.:)

add the mirror for urpmi here (http://easyurpmi.zarb.org/) then just do urpmi --upgrade-kde and it will update all packages installed on your system for KDE.

The syntax of that command "urpmi --upgrade-kde" is incorrect. Using it (as root) gives the response "unknown option -u". Are you sure it shouldn't be "urpmi --update kde" (Although that gives a list of packages that contain "kde")

Hi,

There are some unoffical KDE 3.4.2 RPMS
at http://rpm.nyvalls.se/kde10.2.html.

Just follow the instructions.
