It's 5 out of my 6 virtual desktops pasted together. I'm still impressed that a little Celeron 466 (256Mb PC100 SDRAM) can run all that, plus Apache-SSL, SMTP, SSH, IPTABLES firewall, and more without a slowdown. Rock on Linux, rock on. PS: I just installed Ubuntu 5.04 on my laptop. WOW. Why did I have to accept an authentication thing to look at a screen shot? Isn't that kind of overkill? Haha you had me tricked about the monitor thing at first. I was gonna say, four monitors is also kind of overkill, but that's good you make use of virtual desktops. I should do that, but dual monitors isn't too much overkill I figure. Oh and has your machine really been on for almost two years? parabolize 08-04-2005, 05:58 AM Dude look at the colors! Isn't that kind of overkill? I run secure services whenever I can; it's just good practice. Haha you had me tricked about the monitor thing at first. I was gonna say, four monitors is also kind of overkill, but that's good you make use of virtual desktops. I should do that, but dual monitors isn't too much overkill I figure. I'd love to have 4 monitors. Virtual desktops are great, but some stuff I'd like to be visible all the time (e.g. Gaim, Log Viewers, etc). Oh and has your machine really been on for almost two years? You are a sharp one. Let me give you a clue: How long has the kernel I've been running been out? Just a little easter egg for ya. Let me give you a clue: How long has the kernel I've been running been out? Just a little easter egg for ya. Sharp like a spoon! Yes though that would make sense. Well then, I'm just going to pretend you've been booted for almost two years because that's fun enough. Unless you figured out some trick to boot the kernel without rebooting... that'd be something. hanuman33 08-04-2005, 05:52 PM Hi, folks. DSwain 08-11-2005, 03:22 PM I'm reticent to ask but why do you have 10 virtual desktops and 4 instances of Firefox open? Well, I dunno why 4 instances of Firefox, but I mean that's a pretty small looking monitor, so I could see reasoning behind quite a few virtual desktops, right? ions 08-11-2005, 05:00 PM Yeah, I guess, having a few virtual desktops is easy to justify but he could get rid of at least 3 if he axed a few FF instances. DSwain 08-11-2005, 05:09 PM That's true... tabbed browsing is a great thing to have, and probably easier to manage than four virtual desktop instances. Hmm...
