I havent tried it yet but the slapt-get feature looks interesting

I downloaded it last week, but was unsuccessful with getting x sorted out, so went to SUSE, and then on to Ubuntu (where I've had the best success).

Maybe I'll put it on some older hardware I've got laying around.
