Hi,
Can someone enlighten me with regards to installing the the samba update
for Fedora core 4. I have downloaded the file Samba 3.0.14a.tar
How do I use Yum to install the files?

Yum i a front-end to the rpm format of distributing binary packages. What you have in that tarred file is source code threfore, you should either get an rpm to use to install or learn how to compile source code.
