My sound doesn't work, I tryed running the trouble shooting but it doesn't seem to work . It never says what the trouble shooting thing says it's going to say.

The driver is on there but I get no sound and I feel really stupid.

So help again

Sorry I didn't post it corectly... I am going to sleep today because i worked 8 hours and I am slightly irritated with my computer. I love Linux, but I feel like an idiot, and I hate that. lol
Anyways I will re post this properly, but for now I am more concerned with getting my ACIP totally enabled so my laptop doesn't overhead and shut down anymore, luckly I have a desktop that I built for mom and I am using that in the mean time to research, I am also reading the HELP file that came with Mandriva... thanks for the concern, you guys are awesome around here

at a command line (or terminal or console or even konsole) type alsamixer to run alsamixer.

Its very easy, just up and down to tune the volume, and the character m to mute or unmute it.

escape to exit is the first line of the program. Again another easy one.

Okie i did that, and I don't think it helped, he volume is all the way up.
I have a Laptop Toshiba Satellite A65 1328 and when I type lspci it tells me the following:
00:14.5 Multimedia audio controller: ATI Technologies Inc IXP150 AC' 97 Audio Controller

what does that mean? is the driver installed correctly?
what other information do u guys need?

lspci tells us what chip is on the card.

we still need lsmod to see if its installed properly

the volume may be all the way up, but is mute on? mute is the mm below the volume bars, and they can be on with a positive bar. turn them to show oo not mm
