I have an IBM T20 Thinkpad notebook. It came with an IBM DVD drive as the optical drive. I was thinking of getting a CDRW/DVD drive. I saw a Samsung on www.geeks.com The problem is that I am not sure if it can work on this machine.

The question is are notebook optical drives one standard size or is it a case where different manufacturers use different phsical specifications? If that's the case is it only and IBM drive will fit an IBM notebook.

they generally are manufacturer and model specific.

Oh man! I was hoping that that wasn't the case although I suspected it to be. So it means that the one I saw there is a no go.

Thanks much for the information, Hayl.
