Hello everyone,
Got a quick question for ya :) . I was wondering if its possible for me to patch my 2.6.12-rc6 kernel to the new 2.6.12 one that just came out. I'm just sure if I can patch from a release client to a release like that so I wanted to check with someone first. I noticed on the www.kernel.org site they have the file "patch-2.6.12-rc6-final.bz2". Would this be the one I need to upgrade to the newest kernel?

- Thanks

No, you can't do that. The 2.6.12 patch is for the 2.6.11 kernel.

The patch-2.6.12.bz2 file is for the 2.6.11 kernel.

But the patch-2.6.12-rc6-final.bz2 file, in the http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v2.6/testing/incr/ directory, is an incremental update from 2.6.12-rc6 to 2.6.12-final.

Just tried the 2.6.12-final patch and it seemed to worked just fine (didn't show any errors). Thanks for the response.
