After having slackware 10 installed and running well on a Microtel computer I upgraded the software to 10.1. The install went well and the computer runs well and reboots with no problems. However, when you shut down the computer with shutdown -h now a kerenl panic occurs. At the end of the shutdown process after Power Down is displayed the kerenl panic error is displayed. The error is something to the affect of can't handle null point handler.

The information is sketchy, I know. Right now I'm just looking for a place to start or some clues as to what's causing the error. My main computer that is also running slackware 10.1 isn't having this problem.

Any help will be appriciated.

Take a photo of the message. Post it on flikr.com and post a link. ;)

Mostly people are going to just tell you to use a new kernel or maybe to not even worry about it because it happens at shut down.

g'luck.

Maybe you can use poweroff instead of shutdown -h
