Hey,
I just cant load it, when i modprobe snd-intel8x0 i get the following message:
modprobe: can't locate module snd-intel8x0
hmm i did a debian net install (sarge) i just have the base system here with X and some apps running ...

is alsa installed?
is alsa support compiled into ur kernel?

alsa installed yes,
compiled into the kernel i dont know :p it wasnt installed at first, i installed it using apt-get ... how do i compile it into the kernel ?

I've had better luck with sound modules out side the kernel instead of compiled in
/lib/modules/2.6.10-gentoo-r6/kernel/sound/pci/snd-intel8x0*
(replace 2.6.10-gentoo-r6 withyour kernel)
see if it is there

okayyy i apt-get installed the modules and got them loaded everything is working now thanx...
i downloaded the 686 modules and now i have 2 kernels at the boot loader (GRUB) the 386 and 686 ... strange no ? before i used to have only the 386...
