Hi to the community. I am very new to Linux and I have chosen Fedora Core 3 to learn on my Sony Vaio PCG FX-210 Laptop. I completed the install with out a problem, now I want to have the ability to manage power and have the battery icon on the desktop. I opened terminal and typed apm and found that my kernel does not have support for my laptop. I don't know enough to build and recompile a new kernel. Is there any other way to get the job done?

Thanks in advance,

Monty:confused:

no.

if you do not have apm support either built-in or as a module then yu will need to rebuild a new kernel with apm.

Is it possible that I could try starting ACPI instead?

Thanks,
