Well, I search on the board, and did not find any reference. Is there a thread about this and I missed it?

I was just wondering why isn't Windows Source out everywhere my now. I would think that this would happen a lot sooner then it did.

I guess nobody shows enough interest in the Windows Code to really bother trying to find it and check it out. Maybe there are just better things to do. Some time ago there was supposedly parts of Windows itself that were supposed to have been made with pirated software, but nobody really cared about that either.

Maybe because it's illegal? ;)

I rememer that story. If I remeber correctly, I heard that most of the code was old recycled code from MS-DOS 2.1 patched up a dozen times. There were supposedly comments in there talking about the upcoming Windows 2.0. No one cared about it because it wasn't worth anything.

Well, I just saw few files named "Windows 2000 Source" on donkey network. What do you think that is?

I think it's something you'll want to stay about 10000 miles away from if you might EVER contribute one line of code to an open-source project!

Seriously, the number of IP shenanigans that Microsoft might be able to pull based on that code really scares me... Trade secret law may not apply (I'm not sure), but patent (if applicable) and copyright laws definitely would.
