Why does Microsoft advertise in THIS site!?

I do not know, I just noticed the Win 2003 SQL Server AD at the top of THIS ( JUST Linux ) site. Ahhh... why. It's annoying me :)

Why does this make you angry? Studies have shown (http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/businesstechnology/2002182315_security17.html) that Windows Server is far superior to Linux. They're just trying to get you to come back to light. :D

P.S. I never see the ads. I've got Firefox running Adblock (http://adblock.mozdev.org/).

This is a commercial site, and I suppose it helps pay for bandwidth. I wonder what effect M$ thinks their ads will have on justlinux users, most linux users are generally too informed to fall for their crap.

I just read that article ( Studies have shown (http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/businesstechnology/2002182315_security17.html) ). The Win v. Lin Hypothetical BS is ridiculous, as usual :) But that bit about "Government regulation of cyberspace may be needed to protect the nation's critical infrastructure" scares me. This seams to be the trend in this country of ours (US) after 9/11. How are things in europe on that front?

I think it's part of a package deal... MS advertises on a whole lot of sites for one flat rate. I'm hoping that I can get to advertise on my Linux site when I get it up.

I remember when I first registered with this forum I asked the same question. If memory serves me correctly...I had a message from the late mdwatts stating, "WTF DOES IT MATTER...YOU ARE THE 100TH PERSON TO ASK...DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT!!" At that point I decided that worrying about what advertisements and by who is advertising on this forum is irrelevant. So I said, !@#$ it and I don't worry about it no more! If M$ wants to pay to advertise here....take the money and drive on. Hell, I don't even notice them anymore. :D

Seriously, this is an old old old question and it's just that this site uses an advertiser that has a big bag of tech ads and MS is the biggest payer...lets move on now shall we? ;)
