I'm not really sure where this would go...and gave the best title I could. I'm not sure really how to ask this question! I've tried searching around for what I could find...but didn't really find anything useful.

So I was down at the computer store talking to a couple of fellow nerds, and they were mentioning that they had installed Gentoo on one of their roommate's rigs. They also mentioned that they used three different computers to do all the compiling for the one rig.

Does anyone know how to do this? I was reading about this distro Chaos (mainly for security testing) that uses openMosix to use the computers as a supercomputer cluster. They were talking about using it for other purposes, but I wonder if this would be possible.

Right now, I'm doing stage 1 installation on my Celery 1.1 and it's going to take a loooooooong time to complete. It would be cool to get my P3 750 and my Athlon in on the action as well in order to speed things up.

Just wondering! Any and all input is appreciated!

Thanks!

distcc perhaps? I haven't played with it much myself, but apparently you can use it to set up multiple computers to do a bunch of compiling. Might help to do some earching for "distcc gentoo" or something like that.

So, for the record. That's exactly what you can do with distcc.

There's a Doc/Howto on the gentoo.org site.

Thanks again!
