Im not trying to be annoying, what is annoying is that mods are closing my threads!! And yes I have been searching for a lot of the problems I have had and have figured out some things on my own. I just sometimes prefer to talk to a real person and to get their advice and reasoning behind things. If helping someone out is annoying then how in heck did you become a mod? If my posts are so annoying I will just go else where then, there are other forums out there.
Again, Im not trying to be annoying and Im not meaning to complain. It just pisses me off that my thread got closed when all I was doing was asking a few questions.
Peace

I wanted to get this in before this thread gets closed ( as I am sure it will)
I don't think anyone has a problem answering questions, it is the subject of the questions that seem to set the mods on "kill mode" "wth??? part 2" is a sure target for the locking machines.

As far as I can tell, the only thread you've had locked (aside from mine MUUUAHAHAHAHAHAA!!!)
was this one:
http://justlinux.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=139679
No big deal if you ask me, but if you want to carry on a conversation about general aspects of linux, use your IRC client and join server #irc.freenode.net , and channel #justlinux.
It's not officially affiliated with this site in any way, but it's a more convenient way to carry on a discussion.
Hope that helps,

I've been away for awhile, so I haven't yet seen all of your posts.
Subjects like "Some Newbie Linux Questions" sound okay in casual conversation (real life or IRC), but aren't specific enough here.
Try posting each of your topics separately. That way, folks can target the areas they know more about.
Question about monitor settings? your /etc/fstab? getting mplayer to run? Whatever it is, put it as the subject.
Try to be as specific as you can in your subject and questions, and try to be patient in waiting for an answer. We all have different areas of familiarity and proficiency around here. This forum really does have a lot of great people who want to help out.

Okay, thanx je_fro for not closing this. I do go on irc and talk on #linuxhelp but they are usually lazy there and dont care too much to help and plus I dont have irc on the work computer. I guess I will just try to be more specific next time I need to post. At work I just get frustrated really easily (programmer...very stressing sometimes) but now that my project is done Im in a good mood =). Thanx for the replies.

I understand why the majority of your posts were closed, they didnt meet the guidelines in obvious places.
But come on mods... youve closed /dev/random threads by this guy... /dev/random is there for a reason. I think we can relax a bit in that forum, cant we?
Ive seen mods post some pretty rediculous and off-topic stuff in /dev/random and had them stay and hes posted relevant things that were closed there.
I am satisfied with the mods job 99% of the time but I have to say its getting out of hand.
My two fifths of a nickel.

Well, epod69, I didn't close your thread because I think you are annoying and I can understand your frustration. When I was asked to become a mod it took me by surprise, so there's no mean plot by Parcival against those newbies out there, I have other goals in life. :)
Well, these are the reasons why I locked your thread:
You had several topics adressed in one thread
Your title was too generall to describe your questions
I am trying to follow the modding rules as good as possible so our modding isn't arbitrary depending on the mod you run into.
When you ask a question in the forums, we are not only trying to help you. We are also trying to help those that come after you. Imagine another newbie with a brandnew, shiny and really nice laptop trying to get wireless working under Linux. Assume the newbie uses the search function checking the "search thread titles only" to be more efficient. What terms will he/she punch into the search box? That's right, it will probably be the word "wireless".
The reason why we mods are sometimes pretty keen on proper questions and threads is because we are trying to make using the forums a rewarding experience for everyone. When I was a newbie, mods used to manually edit thread titles to better describe the content, but from a point it became too much work to them. They started a policy back then of locking the threads and kindly asking the poster to repost again, so that's what I have been doing with your thread. You are very welcome to post again. :)

What I see that closes threads most of the time are bad subjects, when the rest of the post is fine.
mdwatts helped setup a lot of the Guidelines and we've been very lazy with them. Example, the "wft???" thread should have been deleted and a PM sent to the poster about it ;)
Don't think of it when we lock threads it's a "**** you" thing, it's a "please make the post clearer so we can help you better"
Don't take these personally, it's for the good of everyone that we keep the subjects on-topic
And don't mind us mods when we start going off with goofy stuff at the end of threads....it's stressfull :D

Hey, I can understand your reasoning now on why you closed my post. I have never posting in a forum before though and have someone what felt like zipped my mouth shut and told me to go talk somewhere else and when you change the subject, go somewhere else again and talk..=).
I wont go too much into detail but what a lot of what the information I was trying to get is related to that my Dad owns a body shop and he has been having some problems sometimes with using windows. Surfing the net on Windows now and days is like having a "kick me" sign on the back. My dad is very impatient (he yells and screams at the computer moniter when it something doesnt load up right away or if it freezes...and then he threatens to throw the computer monitor out the window...) and Linspire might be a little too slow and I am wanting to create a distro specifically for his system with a desktop, internet, and program I am programming for him through c++ so he can save and manage invoices. If all I put was this on the computer I bet it would run faster then Linspire or any other distro out there..probably. Well, when I get the free time I will post a thread in the right forum, and then hopefully I can get some help and suggestions.
Peace all
