I've grown tired of useing my cd/mp3 player as it is large compared to mp3 players. So i went on a search to find a cheap iPod (i use itunes a lot on windows machines so why not get somthing that is compatible with that). I ended up at apple.com to buy it for one, they engrave it free, and 2 its the only place other than school i can get the student discount (correct me if i'm wrong). So I decided upon the 4gb mini green. I went small and cheap, before taxes it came out to $179. Tracked it through fedex and when it was supposed to be dilvered it stated, "Package undiliverable, address does not exist". Odd so i called them up and foudnt aht my address had been replace by "My Home". They couldn't change it because the address was locked in, so i called apple, same story, i was told to wait untill it could be reshipped back to apple (Alaska) then they'll reship it to me (fine). So i get home from School and cheked my account to see my balance for the day and noticed a second charge of the full price ($203.97). At this time the support center was closed so I emailed them with a few questions, and recieved a response to e-mail them if I had any questions (very redundant) so i did, and then recieved an e-mail telling me to call a number to resolve the issue :( . So i just got off the phone with the processing team, and had the over charge handled, and found out the ipod that took 2 days to get to the FEDEX center here, will now take 8 days to be returned to me at the correct address. All i recieved so far was a $25 discount for this. I cannot cancel the order due to the customized engraveing.

My Point:
1) Don't use apple directly, there support SUCKS (award winning my m$)
2) Never personlize anything (but linux), Companies Screw you when you do this.

Don't you think this sound more anecdotal than real evidence --- if there are more of these incidents, we will really consider it.

I believe you just had an unlucky streak. But surely you can recover from that isn't it?

I have made good experiences with them so far. I had questions concerning the billing, the call center guy in the Netherlands nicely supported me.
The FEDEX woman called me on my cellphone when she was at our house and didn't find the door (it's sort of hidden). All nice and friendly. The only thing that bothers me is that everything has to be shipped from China first which seems like an eternity to me. Once my stuff hits Amsterdam I have it within three days.

I've also only had good experiences on apple.com. In February I ordered I pink iPod Mini for my wife for Valentine's Day. Shortly after I ordered they announced the price cut and the new larger capacity mini. Well through the process of waiting for the engraving they ran out of the old mini's. They automatically discounted my price on the original one to the new lower price. Then they ended up having to send me the newer 4 GB one that had the longer battery life, but not as many cables as the original one I had ordered. So they automatically sent me a FireWire chagrer and FireWire cable free of charge. So in the end I got the newer 4 GB iPod Mini with engraving and all of the accessories that came with the older model at the lower price. I was extremely pleased as I didn't have to contact them once, they did it all automagically.
