No carrier need help

Hi
Thankzz for helping me for my isa modem config.im using gentoo and im facing a lil problem wid it.my isa is dectecting to /dev/ttyS0 and ttyS1.ive config it to ttyS1.im using minicom to get conect to net.minicom work fine when it get conected after 2 secondz a msg occur that "No Carrier" what does that mean.can any one help me in this.your kind response will be helpful for me ;)

No Carrier usually means it is not getting a dialtone. Check your cable, and maybe plug a phone in and see if you hear anything
