I'm not sure if this is a bug or not, but when I put this into a post:

the forum inserts a semicolon, and shows this:
(&)
instead. (If you quote my post, you'll see that I added an empty italics pair between the ampersand and the right paren in the first example; this was to keep the forum from putting the "wink" smilie in there.)
I suspect it has something to do with ampersands needing to be turned into "&" when being displayed in a browser, but I'm not sure where the "amp" part of the entity reference would have gone. It looks like the ampersand got turned into just plain &; instead.
Not a big deal by any means -- I think this is the first time I've ever tried putting an ampersand inside parentheses by itself, so it's not like this gets seen much. ;)
