This is about as random as it gets really. But does anyone else ever have a problem where they are playing with their linux machine, learning something new, try to break and then fix it, or whatever. Then all of a sudden you look over to the clock and notice that it has been nearly 5 or more hours, it's after 5 in the morning, or you have to work in 2 hours?

I just got done workin on a grueling program for my Perl class, and I find myself wired like on speed after 5 hours of figuring this thing out.

So I have come to the conclusion that there is a possible connection between speed and linux. Or maybe not, just wanted something random to post at 5:15 in the morning while I am wired for no reason.

but won't you welcome the effect? You just can't find it in windows!

In no time you will be years ahead of those windows morons.

(but you will be having a sleep deficit too :D)

nah, but I have stayed up doing a goddamn reformat from when my FIRST win installation crapped the bed....was up til 6, had to be showered, dressed, and out the door by 7:15, nearly killed myself in the shower afterwards because of lack of sleep ^_^

Sounds like you may have been in hack mode (http://www.catb.org/~esr/jargon/html/H/hack-mode.html) to me. Especially since you were programming at the time. ;)

I've done that before, only I always end up starting at noon, and next thing I know people are asking if I want to go to dinner. It's always a little suprising.

I know the feeling. Except for me it was when I was spending hours and hours writting html. (a little less hard core. lol)

That also happens during research sometimes. I've spend hours and hours googling, or reading this forum.

Sometimes - when i'm about to sleep - lines for a poem will keep going through my head and I 'have to' write them down. If not they will bother me so much that I can't sleep. So, I end up writting and writting until the words stop comming.

Ha! I like that.. "hack mode".. Man I am fairly new at programming, I remember when I first thought about it, it scared the crap out of me, now its like "my thing". A friend of mine explained it as, when I am programming i am "In my bliss".

Anyway I wonder what someone like myself would have done 100 years ago, before a computer was even invented? I wonder what all us linux users would have been doing instead of getting cancer and carpeltunnel (spelling?).

Thats an intesting thing to think about, if someone is a computer person now, what would they had been 100 years earlier instead?
Boy I just love throwing out these random topics...
