This was a pretty funny article that was just posted on slashdot. For you non-slashdotters out there, just thought I would forward it to you...

Linux just isn't user-friendly when it comes to viruses. You have to work to find and run them. It doesn't happen automatically as it does with Windows. The GNU/Linux folks really should improve this glaring discrepancy.
Heh... gotta love that. :)

Just out of curiosity is there any known viruses for linux ?
In the future does anyone think that some angry windows user will ever fully express their anger and make a virus for linux ?
One of the main things I love about linux is being able to surf the web without fear of having palms casino's games installed onto my desktop, into my favorites and things of the such, as well as being prompted to install spyware every 2 seconds.
I wonder if viruses and spyware will ever effect the linux world..... Does anyone have any information on this subject ?

so anyway...
From good old slashdot
It just isn't fair that Windows users get all the viruses. I mean really, shouldn't Linux users be in on the fun as well? Well... thanks to the folks running the Wine project, Linux users can "catch the virus bug" too -- sort of...
Everyone loves Windows viruses, right? Well, the crazy people over at NewsForge (owned by the same people that own Slashdot) decided to try running Windows viruses with Wine. So next time you receive an email virus, strike up Wine and see what you can do (or not).

The best way to test wine will be tring to run myDoom on it. If it works, we will have an accurate emulation of a windows system. If it doesnt work, we dont have an emulation, but we dont have any virus.

mmmm, i am glad to hear that i am not the only one guessing about wine compatibility to run virusses :)
That was one of the first things i was wondring when i heard about windows emulating: "could it also bring windows viruses to the desktop :)"
wow, now all stupid users can migrate to linux and make the same mess as with windows ;)
Some people try everyting when the have too much spare time (read an article recently on OSnews.com where a dude tried to crash a windows install and a linux install by rm * -rvf and del * -r)
