I don't know about you, but I run Firefox and often encounter websites that Demand IE 6 or above for access. While I won't Troll on about how much this Really Annoys Me, I will say that with some Google searches I found a nice plugin that resolves the issue: http://www.chrispederick.com/work/firefox/useragentswitcher/
Mods: I was not sure where to put this, but I thought that since it would be a handy tool for many that /dev/random was a good place - move as you will.

I ran across this a while back but it was for Firefox versions less than 1.0.
I'm glad to see they've upgraded it.
Thanks for the reminder, I'm going to play around with this on a few sites that I *have* to use for work that require IE!!!

Do they require IE because they check the user-agent string, or do they require it because they require Kerberos authentication?
Firefox, by default, won't do Kerberos authentication, but you can turn it on:
http://www.mozilla.org/projects/netlib/integrated-auth.html
If they do check the user-agent string, then that extension would be useful. However, I have to say that I've never seen a site that does that at work. ;) (I use FF, while everybody else uses IE6 SP1, and routinely gets infected with the latest ActiveX exploit.)

user-agent string. All the sites that I have encountered with this issue are .gov (I work in a gov IT shop). However, the site that really Pi**ed me off was the HR Payroll app for the firm I work for...it simply refused to allow access unless I was using IE6....the answer I got from HR regarding this was "sorry, the app is 3rd party software and we have no control over it"......uh huh!
Anyway, my Lesson Learned (again..and again...) is that there is always a way if you work hard enough to find it!! Thanks for the site...I will try that as well.
