I have a server running redhat 8 with kernel 2.4.20-18.8smp and on this machine. Dell has a driver that needs to be installed (a custom megaraid) and when I try to install megaraid it informs me that building the module for this currently running kernel was skipped due to the source not being available. Now it appears that redhat handles its source code a bit differently than the other distributions that I have experience with and I found that smp is for multi processor servers. Anyhow I searched for the applicable kernel source and did not find anything that matched the kernel name correctly, then decided to link 2.4.20's source to /usr/src/redhat hoping that would do the trick.....I have in the past done a link to /usr/src/linux but I think redhat is different. If any of these ramblings make sense I would appreciate any guidance as to how in the world I can get this machine to get this megaraid installed.
