Dear All Out There,
I have a problem with my HP980 Inkjet printer connected to my USB.
During instalation, the printer was recognized. Being a newbie as I am, I was happy all went fine.... til I tried to open my control center. This program froze up on me. While rebooting, I got messages like: /dev/proc device manager is busy; the USB is busy and so on.
Searching the web and these pages here, I found others having a similar problem, and so I tried to pull the USB plug on my printer to see what happens. Turns out, the control center is functioning flawless and all is fine. But as soon as I do something with the USB (plugging in the printer, for insance) the whole system freezes. And it does not matter when I plug in, even at the login screen, it freezes all up. (Is one actually allowed in Linux to plug in equipment while runnung the system?)
Does anyone have a clue how to solve this problem? HP claims it is possible, I just need to figure out how, since when it is connected, it freezes up the control center.....
Thanks for any assistance.
Cheers.
Bart
