Guys,
Maybe a dumb question, but bare with me, as i am new :)
My current system is: 10GB NTFS HDD - Windows XP installed and a 60GB NTFS HDD for apps, storage etc.
Both of these are hooked to the MoBo. I want to add a 10GB drive for a Linux drive.
Are there any issues regarding an IDE controller plugged into a PCI slot? Should this drive be seen when I do install?
Thanks

What card? What distro? It should work fine depending on both, I had a nice little promise ata100 controller that I could even boot from, it worked fine.

hmmm i dont have it in front of me here at work. It is a promise controller, I think an Ultra ATA133. That sounds familiar. Are there normally boot issues? I hope to be able to use it for that purpose :)
As far as Distro, I am new, and reading a lot still, but looking at FC 2 or Ubuntu (the Live CD worked well on my machine)

Your 2 on-mobo controllers should handle 2 devices each - do you have 2 cd/dvd drives? If not, you don't need the extra PCI controller card...

But coupling an ata 133 drive with an ata33 cdrom will make the ata133 run at ata33 :S

I currently have a CDRW, and DVDRW on one cable, and my two Windows HDDs on another cable. That is why I am outta space.
If I have any booting issues with the card, I suppose I could take my "Storage" drive and have that on the controller, with the two 10GB OS HDDs on the MoBo cable.
