I am trying to load Load Linux 9.0 on computer which is already having 3 Operating system i.e Win2000 Prof,Windows 2000 Server and WIndows Xp.My hard disk size is 40 Gb which i divided into 4 equal partitons and on remaining 10 Gb i am trying to install Linux.I got these kind of errors while installation choosing Manual partitioning and using Disk-Druid :

1) could not allocate requested partitions: Partitioning failed: Could not allocate partitions as primary partitions.

I clicked OK and this came up

2) You have not defined a root partition(/) which is required for the installation of red hat linux to continue.

Below i am giving you my partition size details :-

/dev/hda
/dev/hda1 vfat 9805 MB
/dev/hda2 extended 8997 Mb
/dev/hda5 vfat 8997 Mb
/dev/hda3 ntfs 8997 Mb
Freespace 10401MB

Please help me out these is a very common problem if i use hard disk above 40 GB.Earlier i was using 20 Gb hard disk i never faced this kind of problem.I even tried to install Linux 9.0 after Disk Defragment but still problem is there. Please help me out.

I think, and I could be wrong. Most consumer IDE drives limit you to 4 primary partitions. You need to make an extended partition with logical partitions inside of it.
Windows needs to be in a primary partition, most good operating systems don't.
