Hey all!
there are 2 situations which i cant use GUI apps as root:
if i am running a graphical session as user and try to start a GUI app as 'su' it says:

Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified

also, if i am as root in a tty terminal an try to run some GUI interface it says the same:

Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified

example: make xconfig (trying to run GUI version for kernel config)

Note: i installed the newest version of X server and i lost antialiasing for fonts. (isnt there a config tool for X compiling like "make menuconfig" for the kernel?)

thank you guys for any help.

that is true.

If using kde, I *think* you can kdesu konquorer (or whatever) and it will prompt for root password and launch that app.

Not sure if thats what you need, but there it is.

Just enter xhost + as regular user before doing su -
