I have a GeForce FX 5200 card installed. I have two CRT screens connected, one uses the CRT connection and one uses a DVI to CRT converter. When X server is started, me second screen turns black (before starting X, the second monitor is cloned). A copy of my XF86Config file is available here: http://elev.ru.orebro.se/ru0887/XF86Config

I simply want to extend my screen to the next monitor (Twin View). I've tried using NVidias readme file, but I can't get it to work (never done it before).

You are wanting 1 big screen spread across the 2 monitors, yes?

In X this is called Xinerama.

Try looking at this page:

thanks! This should get me started... I realise now that I was a little confused... I, for some reason, thought that I was not to use Xinerama... can't remember for what reason, Xinerama seems to do what I want. Again, thanks for pointing me in the right way! :)

When I installed the nvidia driver it installed some documentation along with some sample XF86Config files. Look under /usr/share/doc/NVIDIA_GLX-1.0 or do a find / -iname "*nvidia*".

Thanks for that documentation tip! Having an example to study was a great help!

Here's a screenshot of the result: Screenshot (approx. 0.5MB) (http://elev.ru.orebro.se/ru0887/img/snapshot3.jpg)
