Here's the story. I've set out to install Familiar Linux on my iPaq 3135. To do so I had to invest money to buy a serial cable for it, which is sparcly available anymore as it is a pre HP Compaq merger device, I have gotten as far as installing the bootstrap. While I've downloaded Familiar with a nice GUI, I can't install it. The xmodem transfer gets to 10191K of 11264K and quits on me. I'm guessing that due to wear and tear on the device I've managed to kill some of the space that would normally be addressable.
I will also add that 0.7.2 dosn't seem to support my greyscale display.
This makes it a 3 part question.
1. Can anyone suggest a workaround for my reduced space to get Opie (smaller of the two GUIs) on that does not involve having a NIC for the divice?
2. Is investing further money by buying a NIC in an already well worn device worth it to get it up and running again?
3. What kind of interaction should I be able to expect from the bootstrap? Currently, when fully booted, the power button does not respond and using `/sbin/telinit 0` (over serial) causes the whole works to freeze up.
