Linux dummy needs help

Ok, here is the thing, I am tired of Microshafts crap, and want to switch to Linux. Problem is which verison to switch to, Redhat, Mandrake, etc.. Any suggestions for someone like me? Which should I go for, which is easy to install, use, etc., for a complete dummy..lol.
