I have a server with 2 Athlon 1600 processors
Adaptec 2490 SCSI Card
4 hard drives
1 SCSI cdrom
1 SCSI Tape Drive
1 Adaptec Raid Controller

I was installing Redhat Enterprise on a machine. Everything was going good until Xwindows stopped working. I decided to reinstall because I figured it would be easier to do this since it was a fresh install with nothing added yet.

Anyway, the cdrom would no longer boot. This was an IDE cdrom. I replaced it with a scsi cdrom attached to the 2940. I can now boot to the cdrom but now Linux can't load the aic7xxx driver. So once I get to disk druid it can't see any of the hard drives. This was working before when I had an IDE cdrom plugged in. Could this have something to do with the cdrom being on the same scsi card as the hard drives?

I have searched this site, but I could not find anything that was helping.

I am totally lost on what to do. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I would look on the adaptec site and see if there is a boot disk image you need to install when you load REL.
