Hello:

I burned the .iso image from SUSE's page, checked it with md5sum and everything seemed ok. It boots and starts the installation fine up to the part of: "Installation Settings" here it shows an error in the "Software" option:

Cannot read data from installation media, Media error?
ERROR: No proposal

And when I try to "accept" a window appears saying:

The proposal contains an error that most be solved before continuing

This is my first time with any linux distribution, Any ideas?

I think you may be in the part for specifying what software you need Suse to install for you but haven't declare your choice from the options made available to you.

Just read the instruction carefully and opt for the deafult set or choose everything if you are not sure.

Works for me every time.

I had a similar issue while installing SuSE 9.1 professional from DVD. In my case it was because I was trying to install from an external USB DVD drive, which is not supported. Installation from an internal IDE DVD solved the issue.

If none of the above suggestions work, try reburning the .iso at a slower speed. I had issues where .iso's I had burnt at high speed started the install program and looked good but died later on in the process. I reburnt them at 4x and it fixed the problem.
