G’day all, A fellow I know who “thinks” he knows Linux (Suse) and is also good at Bsing managed to get the local newspaper (hard up for stories) to do a spot on him and his new Linux “business” installing Linux for home users.
First off “I” introduced Linux to this guy about 6 months ago and his Linux business has yet to have a client but if you an believe it or not IBM contacted this twit to teach Linux to their staff in the USA!?!?!?!
I forgot more about Linux than this guy knows and I do not know much, so why the hell would IBM contact this guy to teach Linux?
To top it off he does not even had a real job he is the local hippy who thinks he knows electronics and Linux and just wait to they see this guy scruffy looking wearing sandals and an old green peace shirt!
So what is up with this? Is IBM that hard up or what!?

Have you ever watched Sesame Street? They have an uncanny way of demonstrating "Corporate Mentality". They did so with a skit where two Martians (Red/Green, henceforth abbreviated as "RM/GM") materialize outside a window:
RM: (Looking in at phone) Ummmm?
GM: Ummm... Cow?
RM/GM: Yup, yup, yup, yup, yup...
GM: Mooooooo...
(No response)
RM: Nope! Ummm... Dog?
RM/GM: Yup, yup, yup, yup, yup...
GM: Bow wow!
(No Response)
Well, it continues along that line for a bit, until they realize it's a "Phone"... Ring!
And that pretty much sums it up. The execs ("suits", if you will), read in the paper this guy was an expert - Yup, yup, yup, yup, yup...
You get the picture. Pretty soon they'll come to the conclusion that this guy is a jerk - Yup, yup, yup, yup, yup...

2 ways you can take this......
1) - you got there already.
2) - This guy has proved there is a big market for Linux in your area, and that the big guys are willing to help. Maybe you could go into the market as well and beat him?
Just a thought...

Exactly what I was about to suggest. I have been looking around Switzerland to see if people already are running Linux companies, but so far they only do it as a branch of their enterprise since an enterprise fully based on Linux products isn't able to make it yet.
My LUGs vice-president told me that whenever they install Linux for a corporate customer they install RedHat, because a) RH is still cheaper than Windows and b) TH liscences have the nice side effect that your small business can focus on teaching Linux etc. while RH does the tech support, so you don't have to mess with that. :)
