i use firefox PR1. im on dialup, and the internet is already slow. the banners are making it much much more slower. i could live with the ads with a fast connection, but this is too much.

i used to use adblock-05.xpi in my old computer, which used to make my pages load ultra fast. but adblock works only with the older firefox releases and now the adblock project seems to be abandoned.

i searched and found only material to stop displaying ads. however, the ads still load in the background, making it the same speed. any suggestions? perhaps a local proxy or a hack to adblock?
