This is weird...

After zipping through Slashdot and HardOCP, I hit my JL bookmark in mozilla (1.7), and moz ungracefully exited.

Hmmm.

Restarted moz, got into the forums, hit the back button after viewing ONE thread in Hardware, and...

Hmmm.

Restarted moz again, got past a few more threads, clicked into about the fifth one, and...

Hmmm.

Time for Konqueror. Runs flawlessly. Wondering what the big fscking difference is...

Moz uses the GRE, Konq doesn't. Also, it seems that Moz only crashed when reloading a page, ergo, an ad gets cycled in the stream. Since I have no idea what sort of things are going on at JL, as far as html/xml things go, my question is this:

Can (or does) an ad crash moz, and if so, which ad? Moz worked without issue for the last few weeks, so I know it's something recently added/changed at JL, so I thought about what would change or get added...

Any guesses?

No issue here... Maybe something with flash is doing it?

Anyway, I don't see ads on this site anymore anyway... or at many other sites. Check

for some interesting info on avoiding the ad blitz.

I experienced some problems with certain bits of flash in an older version of Firefox, although I think it was to do with the flash-plugin more. The newest version in Debian-unstable works great.

Well...

Whatever it was, it seems to be only yesterday, since I've had no trouble today (nothing has changed on my end).

Which is why I thought it may be some kind of html/xml/flash/java kind of thing in one of the ads.

Oh, well...

Oops! I'm back to Konq...

I got as far as the JL header, with news below. As soon as the JL penguin logo moved down to make room for the ad banner, *poof*, moz closes.

I don't even know which ad does it. Konq seems to ignore it, but all the ads are animating okay (I guess).

I'll stick with Konq on JL for the time being...

as before - update your flash-plugin.

I thought I had the latest (v6r29) when I updated to 1.71, but it looks like they didn't include the updated plugin. Flash v7r25 is now installed and working (so far...).

Annddd...

I'm back to Konq again! I got all the way down to "Technical" before it bombed, so things improved a bit. I also realized (after answering a post about Moz and Konq), that my cookie settings are set to originating site / first party only, and everything else is sent to NUL: (although both Konq and Moz are set this way.

I also noticed that Konq uses the same plugins that Moz uses (it even has the same directory in the Konq path), so I'm still left wondering what's going on.
