Hey guys..Recently installed SUSE linux onto my computer..but it doesn't seem to have my graphics driver. I have an ATI Radeon 9800 SE. I also have a Samsung Syncmaster 172N but there aren't any drivers that I could find. The screen is rather large now due to the incompatible driver. Not sure how to install my Radeon driver. Also I would like to know how to enable Gnome desktop instead of KDE?Also i have a microsoft scroll mouse.how do i enable the scrolling wheel to work. i'm a complete newbie to this.
Cheers.

The best thing is to use the Search button up there, look for posts about the Radeon, especially in "How I Did It". And just below your post is a thread on configuring a Microsoft mouse, it has some links to help you. Welcome to Justlinux, it's good to have new people here.

try putting your ideas across in point form next time
did you install firefox yet? if not, you apparently won't be able to use it. as you have an RPM-based distro that is SUSE, try searching for firefox RPMs for SUSE.
www.rpmfind.net
www.freshmeat.net
search for RPMs in them. no point compiling from source for firefox if you can find RPMs for SUSE. they do the same thing and compiling from source takes longer.
tell us more of your apostrophe problem. Never happened to me before... can't you copy one from an article on the web and paste them into places where you need them? Or is your keyboard dysfunctional?

1. well i tried downloading the installer from Mozilla and installed it in..
2. hmm..whenever i type the apostrophe like ' then i'd have to hit the space bar..to get it..perhaps something to do with the language settings in the options or something but it's already set to English(US)..thing is that when i'm trying to reply here then it kinda hangs and crashes my Konquerer browser..
what does RPM stand for?

http://simplylinux.punted.net/index.html will give you some basic info.
The apostrophe problem may be due to this: What keyboard layout did you choose during installation? maybe use Yast to try a different keyboard layout.

ok thanks..will try it out..
Hmm..thanks so far..it's been a blast learning Linux..
was wondering..would online resources be sufficient enough or would it be better for me to use a book instead?

A book comes in real handy when you do not have Internet access for some reason (plus it gives you something to read in the bathroom :) ). But there are so many online resources, you can get by without a book. Plus, look in /usr/share/docs, there are hundreds of programs documented. Also, you can use "man somecommand" , "info sometopic", and most commands like "yast(for example) --help" in the console will give you plenty of info as well. And KDE Help shows "man", "info",and configuration topics as well as the KDE help topics.
If you get a book, "Running Linux" is a very good basic book. Also, I always look in the bargain bin, since most topics in Linux do not change that much as far as basic stuff goes. An Suse manual for an older version would be a good bargain, since the basic stuff is the same.

I would recommend downloading a suse rpm (redhat package manager-a generic term for these packages) for firefox. ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/mozilla/firefox/0.9.3/ has the rpm for suse.
