Hi.....I am looking for a distro that has big hardware support. But very unix-like at the same time? I currently use Slackware and love it but I want to try something new. I was looking at arch but their .6 version seems outdated and .7 is not released yet.....Does Vector Linux have good hardware support?
the hardware support is going to entirely depend on what version of the Linux kernel the distro has.
most have or can have 2.6.x kernels now so hardware support will be pretty much the same for all distros, unless they have added some funky patches to the kernel - but even those can be patched manually on any distro.
is there some specific piece of hardware that you are having problems with?

Yeah, what hardware are you concerned about? Yoper's a nice starter distro with the latest kernel's. It's also fast and low on bloat.
