Receiving e-mail notifications for unvisited threads.

It used to be that if I didn't revisit a thread, topic reply notifications were suspended. Now, I'm getting topic replies for threads that I no longer care to follow. I went through User CP, but the only thing I saw was "Use 'Email Notification' by default", which I want for new threads, but not for older ones that I intentionally stopped visiting.
What's Changed?

i just noticed the same thing, i just click the unsuscribe button on the bottom of the email.

Nothing's changed in the universal settings.
