Originally I had Mac OS 9.1 running on my G3 PPC
I could connect to the internet fine here at my house and at the library
after getting tired of Mac OS 9 I installed yellogdog. I loved it, but i have one little problem. I cant connect to the internet everywhere. What is curious bout this is that I can connect to the internet from my house where i sit behind a router, one of those 192.bla.bla.bla things. I had no problems at my friends house either where he also sits behind a router. But when i went to the library i tried ifconfig command and nothing would happen. obviosly their network wastn down because other computers gave me their ip's by runing ipconfig and connected the net. i even tried to restart my laptop but it wouldnt give. I have dhcp installed.
Implying the cat5 cable works and the library allows me conect to the internet; what or where should i look?

oh yeah I did search for a similar problem in these threads but none could relate

dammit no one in my family knows bout computers except for one and its a windows geek

try settings your DNS server settings in /etc/resolv.conf

you may have to enter your router's internal ip or your ISP's.

Not sure about Yellowdog, you might try "pump eth0" (see man pump) to get dhcp settings at those other places.
