Hi;
I am getting an old machine from a friend soon, it doesnt have a cdrom drive. I want to use the machine to run Linux.
Are there any good distros that fit on floppy? I only really want to learn the command line for now.
Also: how would I put it on floppy? Wouldnt the disk be formatted for Windows if I use my Windows machine?
Thanks. :)

dont know the answer to that but you could do a network install, or "borrow" a cdrom to install linux on HD then remove cdrom again.

Slackware can still be downloaded and put on floppy's. Just like the good old days.
You need to download each of the packages seperately, than cp them onto the media.

Thats a very good suggestion. Ill simply switch HD's on my Windows machine and install it through that. :) Now all's I need to do is look for a cool Linux to install. :)

Where can those packages to install Slackware via floppies be found?

http://www.slackware.com/install/
Slack CANNOT be installed by floppy only. Some necissary packages are to big. I think 7.1 was the last one that fit on floppies.
